FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How deep can you bury the EziPit® sewer pit system?

The EziPit can be buried to a maximum installation depth of 6m with a 5m water table and a minimum depth of 1m to 1.2m depending on the structure used. Refer to the EZIpit Technical Guide for further information.

Why is the EziPit sewer pit riser corrugated?

The EziPit's corrugated riser provides flexibility and strength. The single wall corrugated riser can deflect vertically and absorb static loads as well as dynamic traffic loads without cracking or breaking. The corrugations also key into the compacted embedment soil and restrain the EziPit from uplift in water charged ground.

Can the EziPit® be installed in a roadway?

Yes. The EziPit is designed to be installed on roadways with the EziPit Top Hat Class D cover arrangement. The EziPit cover arrangement complies with AS3996 Access covers and grates.

Will the EziPit® resist flotation when buried in water charged ground?

Yes, the corrugated wall will key into the compacted embedment material resisting any up thrust. Tests in the field have been successfully conducted, confirming the unit does not float.

Can you use SewerMax® pipe with the EziPit®?

Yes, but only with pipe sizes DN225 and DN300. SewerMax spigot x socket pipe adaptors allow direct connection of SewerMax pipe with the EziPit base.

Can the EziPit® be supplied with an internal or external drop structure?

Yes. We can supply the EziPit Riser Coupling for external drops with our EziPit 425 Maintenance Structure and 600 Maintenance Chamber. The Riser Couplings allow up to 4 external drops via the riser for each EziPit Structure. We also have prefabricated Riser Couplings for an internal or external drop for the EziPit 1000 Maintenance Hole.

Are the EziPit Top Hat frames and covers gas-tight?

Yes, the Top Hat frames and covers are gastight and watertight in accordance with AS 3996 Access covers and grates.

Why does the EziPit® system have a cap and lid?

The cap and lid was designed to prevent personnel entry.

Can you install an access ladder in the shaft?

No, The EziPit® is a sewer inspection and maintenance chamber and not a manhole. Therefore it has been designed to prevent personnel entry into the confined space. The cap and shaft do allow inspection with CCTV and blockage clearance with water jets.

Do I need a crane to install the EziPit®?

No. The EziPit is modular and is made up of lightweight components designed for ease of handling during installation.

Is the EziPit® suitable for stormwater applications?

Yes, the EziPit is suitable for stormwater drainage applications with PVC DWV smooth wall pipes and DN225 or DN300 BlackMax pipes with adaptors. The minimum depth to invert should be greater than 1.2m.

Why does the EziPit Top Hat for the 425 Maintenance Structure and 600 Maintenance Chamber have a 300mm internal ring?

The EZIpit Frame was designed with a 300mm ring for safety reasons. This restriction prevents falls from heights and improves safety throughout your sewage system.

Is the EZIpit resistant to tree roots?

The EZIpit riser is one continuous length with no joints eliminating any potential points for root intrusion.

The rubber ring joints connecting the riser to the base, and pipes to the base are also resistant to root intrusion. The joints have been designed and tested to AS/NZS 1260 (PVC-U pipes and fittings for drain, waste, and vent applications) and AS/NZS 5065 (Polyethylene and polypropylene pipes and fittings for drainage and sewerage applications) for joint tightness.
